3 healthy recipes to make with your kids

If you want to spend some quality time with your children, why not spice it up a bit with teaching them how to cook? This will be both fun and useful as they will later know how to make many dishes! And the best of all, this can become a habit that you share – finding recipes and preparing meals.

The key to making them interested in the cooking is showing them that the colours and design matter. They would like to participate as they will see the food as a piece of art. And later they will be thrilled when they discover they could actually eat it. Grab your pans, off we go!

  1. Zucchini cheese boats

zucchini boat recipeYou will need about 3 pounds of zucchini, 1 cup of shredded cheese you love, 4 slices of bacon, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil, half a teaspoon of onion and a half of garlic powder and a ¼ of bread crumbs. To start off, cut the zucchini lengthwise and scoop out the flesh from it. Add chopped slices of the flesh back into the zucchini boats. Then apply oil to a pan and let it heat over a medium to high heat. Add the bacon, then stir with the chopped zucchini flesh, onion, garlic, then stir occasionally for 7 minutes. Then take away from the heat and add the bread crumbs. Add ¾ of the shredded cheese. Then put everything into zucchini boats and put it onto a baking dish. Cover it with a bit of water and foil, then leave it to bake at 375 degrees F for 25 minutes. Add the remaining cheese over the boats and you are good to go!

This recipe is great not only because it is healthy, but because of its shape – the kids will love the boats and so will they start to love cooking. Bon appetite!
